This is a hit or miss situation. The new operators live on site. Behind the office and upstairs. It's best to check in in the early evening when both are available. There's no additional staff. When I checked in, the rooms were still being cleaned up so I had to wait an hour. The room decor is dated; think original 1950's motel. I couldn't figure out the TV too well, so I kept it tuned to the 1950's channels. Not much in the way of toiletries or breakfast items. But I was given an upstairs room that faced the lake, was down around Angel Fire or along the Cimarron during the day, so it was soothing to come back to the room early evening and gaze at the lake. And the managers' daughter sometimes practices her volleyball talents against the motel walls. I was OK with all this, but can understand how others might be looking for more comfort. There's lots of outdoor activities in which to engage in these here parts. So use your energies there and don't worry on the room so much. Otherwise choose Angel Fire, Red River or stay down in Taos.

This hotel is so lovely. Upon reading the reviews I was a little sketched out. But for the price, I thought “what the heck”. I was greeted by a lovely couple (new management) and their daughter. It looks like it has been passed off to a new family. Despite being under renovation, I felt like my needs were truly taken care of. Even though she is the sole employee (Deseray), she went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my room and displayed how staying at a hotel should truly feel. Unfortunately, no breakfast due to the new machines being shipped. But isn’t she lovely, she poured me some coffee from her own pot and carried a conversation with me. It felt like I was staying with family members. My boyfriend was able to have some “boy time” with the husband. The view from my room (ask for 2nd floor), was outstanding, beautiful sunrise, sunset, so many bunnies and deer. My room was nice and cozy, they even gave me early access to their “game room” which is coming along great. Overall such a beautiful location. I cannot wait to see what the new management team will bring to this hotel.

What a view we had of the lake and mountains! Only 1 miles from the marina. The hotel was charming and rustic. The room was clean and modern. There was enough furniture for me to stash my bags and suitcases. The fridge and freezer were plenty spacious. My husband and I slept great. It was so quiet! The owner's were helpful and took the time to tell us about the area. The town itself was a beautiful old lake town.

The hotel was amazing not only that but the view from the room we had was incredible. The room was clean and comfortable. The manager was really friendly and welcoming. They also have a game room where you can have fun. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back.

I stayed at this hotel and I just wanted to say I loved the service and the room was very clean and neat. There was really great customer service everyone was super nice and friendly, they have good breakfast options and I got everything I needed while staying there. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who's just looking to have a nice relaxing room while on their vacation. It even has a really nice view of the Eagle Nest lake and all of the surrounding mountains !

We booked a king room at about 6 pm. Their website said there were 3 available.

When we arrived just after 8 pm, there was no one in the lobby, and the lights were off. We found a QR code for late check-in. The file it provided said that "failure to communicate an after hours check in is not ground for a refund."

After waiting for about 30 mins, a teenage girl was dropped off and informed us, "They are closed," but then went behind the counter and tried to log into the computer. She informed us that they would have to clean our room for us before we could be let in.

A few minutes later, a gentleman came into the lobby and let us know that there was no king room available and we would be put in a room with double beds. He was very polite but informed us there was nothing he could do as we booked through a 3rd party website.

I have stayed in worse rooms but not for $200 a night. Our room had stained and damaged towels. There is no AC, although the night was cool enough that it was not needed. They do not offer breakfast as advertised.

The document that was provided by the QR code seems to be nothing more than excuses for the poor service and blaming 3rd party sites for issues.

There is also no mention on their website, the third party website, or the lobby doors about hours and needing to call ahead to discuss late check ins. I would assume any reservations not already checked in could be sought out by the operators, and they could have called us to let us know of the policy.

I would highly suggest finding other accommodations, especially if you are going to be arriving after hours, which I still don't know what they consider that to be.

Amazing stay! I’ve stayed a couple times now, the staff is extremely polite, the rooms are very clean and tidy, and the people of the town are very nice and very welcoming! Amazing place to stay and would highly recommend, plus it’s the most affordable place in the area and it’s worth it!
